medmermaid
Hey all, I have a debit visa with interac however on the deposit section it says UBC can't accept this (or credit cards). My only other option is a certified cheque (which will cost $15). Does anyone have any advice on what to do in this scenario? Am I stuck with purchasing a certified cheque? frenchpress
This was super frustrating for me as well. I ended up finding a friend who had the right type of bank account that they could do the online debit (RBC I think) — we just sat down together and they put it through and then I e-transferred them the cash. I did that as well (friend with RBC) except my friend is in Toronto lol
coppertone1605
I was in the exact same boat. My TD (main) account is Visa Debit enabled, so it wouldn't let me use it to pay. Fortunately, I also have a BMO account from years ago that I was able to transfer money to and then subsequently use to pay the deposit. It seems strange to me that UBC hasn't figured out a way to accommodate this yet... Do you think this will also be an issue when it comes time to pay tuition? Tuition is a different system - many more options. I’ve never had a problem.
Churros
For those who paid with certified cheques, has your deposit status on OAS updated to "received"?
