Clerkship in outreach locations

Hi,

 

For those of you in clerkship at the U of C, have you had any experience in the outreach locations (Medicine Hat etc). For example, Obs Gyn, Peds, or Psych? (I don't think there are others except of course family). Do you spend the entire 6 weeks away from Calgary? Also, can you choose to do as many rotations as you want outside of Calgary?

I haven't done any rotations outside of Calgary yet but I am leaving to do O&G in Medicine Hat next week so I will let you know how it goes (I have heard good things about it). For O&G you spend the whole rotation in Medicine Hat but for the pediatrics rotation you spend 3 weeks in Calgary and 3 weeks in either Lethbridge, Red Deer, or Medicine Hat. I have heard mixed things about those sites, some loved it, some didn't. I don't know anything about doing psych out of town.

You can do as many rotations as you want outside of Calgary for the ones that have the option to do so, but most of the rotations don't give you that option.
