In terms of the last two years in which U of WO looks at, is it the average of your last two years, or do you HAVE to get above that cut off point in both years?

I'm pretty sure you HAVE to get above the cut-off for both years- it is not an average. So if you have 4 years at 3.65 and the cut-off is 3.7 again, you're out of luck, but you would get an interview if you had two 3.2 years and two 3.7 years.

Keep in mind though that you actually only need one year above the cut-off to get an interview because your second year above the cut-off can be your current year.

Just noticed that you wrote "the average of your last two years" but it isn't necessarily your last two years, it's just your best two years that you have taken a full course load, so it could be 1st year and 3rd year etc.

You never know what the cutoff will be for next year, and applying to UWO is NO work if you're already applying to other schools. Unless the application money is a real issue, if you're close to the cutoff it's worth applying anyways, imho.

If you have completed your degree, and aren't planning to do another year of undergrad, then your average of your best two years (not necessarily your last two) has to be above the cut point for EACH of those two school years. That, and a minimum MCAT score (both parameters to be determined next January) will get you an interview next spring.

If you still have a year to go, or are planning to do another year of undergrad (aka the victory lap), you have to have at least one year of undergrad above the cut point. That, and a minimum MCAT score will get you an interview, but in that circumstance, your current year also HAS to be ABOVE the cut point or any potential acceptance will be rescinded (because in that circumstance, you haven't met the two years above criterion).

I hope that helps; one of the current admissions reps can probably rephrase that more succintly than I have, but it's the gist of what happens in UWO admissions. Good luck!

The short answer is that you must have the cut off in EACH of your two best years....it is NOT an average of the two...

For example: if the cut is 3.70, a person with two years that are exactly 3.70 would be fine but a person with one year at 3.69 and one year at 3.71 would not.

The GPA cut off is set so that ~430 of the applicants in any given year will meet it....

That means that the cut off changes each year dependent on the quality of the applicant pool.

The cut off this year was 3.70....in our year, the cut was 3.65. Nobody knows what the cut will be next year...it won't be set until the end of January next year.

The cut off is usually somewhere around 3.60-3.70...so if you have a GPA that is around there, it is worth applying.

Good luck!

Here's the info I've garnered from the archives on the admission website.

Admission Cycle 2003 (*Meds 2007)

GPA: 3.70

MCAT: 999Q

Admission Cycle 2002 (Meds 2006)

GPA: 3.65

MCAT: 999P

Admission Cycle 2001 (Meds 2005)

GPA: 3.60

MCAT: 888P and combination minimums (not used anymore)

NOTE: this was the only year to use combined minimums, it was scrapped later on.

Admission Cycle 2000 (Meds 2004)

GPA: 3.65

MCAT: 989Q
