I would say >85% of my undergrad classmates (bio) in first year wanted to go into medicine. By the end of four years, there were very few of us even left applying.

 

how true. In my first organic class our prof told us to look at the person to our left and the person to our right, and realize that only one of the three will probably still be applying to medicine after the years end of organic:lol ! (and it was fairly true, by the way). Everyone else I know has either changed their minds or accepted their 'fate' that they will never be docs (although in my mind this signals a lack of perseverence more than anything else).
