UBC Med 2022 what are my chances?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

Just wondering if anyone could give their opinion on what my chances would be for UBC. I know UBC's process is pretty secretive but would still appreciate any insights or areas on weakness for my application :) Thanks in advance

cGPA: 90.8%

IP applicant

MCAT: TBA estimate 508-512 (writing end of July)

EC's:

Varied work experience (retail, restaurants, non-profits, one research co-op(no pubs))

President of two clubs (highly involved 3 years each), hospital volunteer (1yr), variety of volunteer from HS (each 2yrs), volunteering at shelter (1yr), peer mentor (1yr), Youth volunteer dance coach (3yrs), working with adults with intellectual disabilities (2ys), organized food hampers for low-income youth during pandemic

Bio major at SFU, IP applicant

Hobbies: competitive gymnast competed at provincial level (ages 2-18), tech blogging (5yrs), making short films, hiking, surfing

If you’re IP with a gpa around 90% and a decent mix of ECs (which you have) your chances are decent of at least getting an interview, A lot will depend on how you present your activities on the NAQ / employment sections. No one knows how the MCAT factors in post-interview, but the closer you are to the average acceptance (~514-515) probably the better. Apply and see what happens!
