Interview prep help from an old graduate

Recommended Posts

Hello (Bonjour) everyone!

I'm an ex-graduate of Ottawa's French stream and understand how stressful it is to apply/interview for medical school. I really think that the Francophone community is in need for more physicians who are willing to serve them and so I'm encouraging those of you who are bilingual to seriously consider applying to the french stream!

I have previous experience in medical school application prep and for this application cycle, I'm willing to offer interview prep sessions on a first come first serve basis for anyone who is wanting to feel more confident in their interviewing skills and have a flavor of what could be expected on their interview day.

I know that there are a lot of English speaking applicants who are less comfortable in their French-speaking in a professional setting and as an individual who has gone through this process as well - I have the perspective on how to help you guys gain a competitive edge.

Disclaimer however that I do not in any way represent the university of Ottawa and there will not be any discussions pertaining to official interview prep materials (including prior mock interviews)

Please feel free to PM me for rates! Looking forward to meeting with some of the next generation of doctors :)

EDIT: I will now be taking on new students for the 2024 cycle (also open to English students however priority is to French). Please feel free to message me to discuss how I can best help!

Hey Just a general q, do you know when interviews go out lol.  Because when I sent them an email, they said by the end of January, applicants will have heard back, but isnt that more so a general answer (meaning aren't there waves of invites)? Mb, i know it doesnt directly relate. Also another general q, are med students in Ottawa for instance recruited only for the interview stage, or do they actually help adcoms look at initial applications (meaning can see abs, gpa etc)

Hi there - I'm not sure how exactly the invites get sent out but I heard back on January 28th or 29th when I applied years ago (I wouldn't lose sleep over this haha I know it can be stressful and overthinking whether or not you were the last one to receive an invitation, implying you have a steeper hill to climb with respect to interview performance). And as far as I know med students are recruited for the interview stage and don't participate in the initial file review, at least when I was in medical school. Things may have changed since then. Best of luck! :)
