The spots this year mostly seems to be labeled as "competitive" compared to "CMG only" in the past. The increase in competitive spots reflects a shift away from FM among CMGs which means more open seats than ever before which programs still want to fill, hence open to IMGs. However, when it comes to choosing applicants in the 2nd round, there will still be a heavy bias in favour of unmatched current year or previous year CMGs compared to IMGs.
