Recommended Posts

ENGLISH:

I'm currently a high school senior in a french highschool and I could use some help to navigate through the application process. What I understood for now is that in order to apply to MD program I have to start be a full-time student for 3 years (I'm interested in Honours BSc in chemistry but it's a 4 years program). In addition to that I have to also take some required courses in these following fields: humanities/ social sciences (I'm interested in maths and psychology), biology, organic chemistry, general chemistry, biochemistry and statistics. I am wondering if I can take these courses separately and still be considered a full-time student or is it mandatory to choose a bachelor's degree? If it's the latter, is it possible to enroll and apply to MD program during my third year or is the completion of the program required? I would also appreciate any suggestions regarding my current plan.

FRANCAIS:

Taking university courses haphazardly is probably not a good idea. Pick a bachelor’s degree you are interested in. Ensure you have all Ottawa’s prerequisites and you can use electives to fill them if needed.

I knew classmates who got in after 3 years UG. It’s hard but doable. Ottawa cohorts have traditionally been heavily filled with people straight out of UG. Ley to doing well in UG is doing something you find truly interesting, reaching out for help (eg Student Mentoring) early to excel in Uni. You’ll do fine
