Guest reb
Regarding having to take 2 full year courses in Biochem, Organic Chem, and Chemistry.... Would general biology count as one of those prereq's since it involves biochemistry? I'm wondering about this because I've only done 1 half course in chemistry, and 1 half course in organic chemistry. Can I use my full year course in Biology to fill the other rereq or do I have to take another full year of either biochem, org, and chem? thanks a lot. Guest Kirsteen
Hi there, Generally, if a medical school stipulates a biochemistry course in the course requirements then they are looking for a full course (or half-course) in biochemistry. That is, a course that focuses solely on amino acids, protein structure/synthesis, enzyme kinetics, metabolism, etc. I doubt that a general biology course would satisfy a strict biochemistry requirement, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Cheers, Kirsteen
Guest spidey077
General Biology won't count for Biochemistry, as this is one of the other pre-requisites for Ottawa.
