I highly recommend season 1. (Ricky Gervais, the dude playing the "manager" is apparently the only UK actor to have captured an Emmy for his work here.) I have both seasons on DVD and I watch them again and again. It's even funnier if you have worked in a British office - or actually in any kind of office! What do you think of the guy who plays Tim Canterbury--the chap who has a proclivity for setting Gareth's stapler in jello? I love that guy and was happy to discover that he's been cast in one of the major roles in the upcoming "Hitchhiker's Guide..." production. Guest Ciara Posted June 14, 2004 Report Share Posted June 14, 2004 I also love Tim! Good to hear we will see more of him. Did you notice him in Love Actually? (kind of an odd little part!) But for purely brilliant, deadpan acting I think Gareth may be the best. God there are so many great bits. I think my favorite episode is when the HR trainer person comes and David gets out the guitar. I'm cracking up just thinking about it! One random piece of Office info - my sister (who's living in London right now) got to see the Office Christmas special. I think it was basically the series finale. She said it was hilarious and set "one year later" - so the documentary they are supposedly filming has been released and David Brent has become kind of famous (in Slough?). One of the best parts of the show is the looks that the cast give the camera, e.g., when Dawn was eating a brie sandwich and Brent was on about his testicular cancer scare. Tim was in one of the minor plot lines in Love Actually. He was the stand-in for an actor in a porn that was being filmed... Remember it was all very matter-of-fact and non sexual, like "okay, stand there and ... good!" ? (kind of a hard role to describe!) Also I think Gareth was in Pirates of the Caribbean. Have you seen any of season 2 yet? I didn't think it was quite up to season 1, but it's still excellent. The show just gets more and more cringe-y!
