I wonder about GPA system at University.

Which one is the right way to calculate average?

1.Let's say from 2 courses I got 86 and 94.

If I average it up, it will be 90.

Which will be GPA of 4.00.

2.Or is it calculated in a way that I get

GPA of 86(About 3.8?) and GPA of 94(4.00)

and average up?(3.90?)

Thanks.

The second method is the way things are done. GPA is not an average of averages. You determine a grade point for each course you've taken, then average those. By the OMSAS scale, the 86 (let's say from U of T), would be worth 3.9, and the 94 would be worth 4.0. The gpa based on those 2 courses would be 3.95.
