Research as EC

Hello all,

I play in a competitive basketball league, practice kung fu and work in a hospital. I was just wondering if research is absolutely necessary as an extra-curricular activity? Any other ideas for EC's?

Thanks,

JMMD

No, many med students have zero research experience upon entry. But, if you want to enter medicine to become a physician researcher or anything like that, it'd be wise to get some experience under your belt.

Also, adding to the diversity of your life experience is always a beneficial thing. If you're curious about research, by all means do it. It can only help. But, not having it on your CV won't sink you ship.

Everyone's mix of EC's is different. If that wasn't the case, med school classes might be a little dull.
