reference letter from relatives?

My uncle owns a buisness and I have worked for him in the past. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to ask him for a reference letter? We don't have the same last name so it wouldn't be obvious that he is my uncle. What do u guys think?

thanks!

The forms I remember reading usuually say no letters from immediate family members....a letter from an uncle seems fine to me....any other thoughts?

I wouldn't use a relative if I could possibly avoid it. That's usually grounds for conflict of interest. Would people figure out that you two are related? Probably not. If they did however, it would probably make that reference letter significantly less credible.

well, if your uncle has a different last name than you do, i don't know how anyone would find out.. but still.. it would seem a little strange to me.
