I read in the CMAJ (or something) that there is a government initiative to expand med school spots. Also, it appears that there are over 800 applicants to UBC this year (I called in). Last I heard they *may* have 5 or so additional seats available. I wouldn't stake any hopes on having increased admissions chances based on this proposal; med school is still going to be as tough as ever to get in.
