Have I fixed myself up enough??

I've tried my best to make myself look pretty to medical schools. The problem: in my younger years university I didn't do well at all, mainly with low B's, a lot of C's, some D's, and a few F's - I think I left with a 2.48 GPA on the 4.0 scale. Since then I've returned to university and raised that GPA to 3.0; completed another degree through the Canadian military college with a 3.6 GPA; working with the Canadian Forces for a few years; and am planning on making a start at, or completing, a Master's degree during the next couple of years left of my contract. Haven't done the MCAT yet, but I will.

Do you think I've prettied myself up well enough to get me into a Canadian Medical school? Any opinion is great. Thanks.

From previous years, I remember someone getting into UBC Medicine with low 70% (between 70-75%), but those people have really good EC and interview scores.

If you overall average and last 60 credits is below 70%, it can become pretty difficult for you. In fact, from some posters here, they claim that they score 25/25 for interview, but their academic score (also out of 25) holds them back after interview. I too see that this doesn't make sense not to get in with a perfect interview score, but this happens because they re-look at your total file (including academics) after interview.

I guess the message is if your total or last 60 credits are between 70-75%, there is still hope. Otherwise, it is not considered competitive.

There's also the 10-year rule that may apply to you if those courses were taken a while back.

The best is to double check with the admission committee to see what you can do to give yourself the best chance. Best of luck!
