Guest nostalg
Hello, I thought maybe some of the moderators might have an answer to this question of mine: Are there any medical schools in Canada that give out a D.O. degree? and is it equivalent to an M.D. ? Guest docbil
NO There is a school of Osteopathy but they give a diploma in Osteopathic Manipulation. You don't have any rights to touch a patient if you are not already a Physiotherapist, Physician or Nurse. I am guessing you saw the link in SDN and the one under US med school application. I posted info on this field.
Guest FungManX
so then what good is the diploma? is it for already certified physios/rn's etc?
Guest docbil
In Canada, it is the old way of Osteopathy. Just Osteopathic Manipulation. Similar to Physio. The US field of Osteopathy, has evolved away from its routes over the last 125 years and has become closer and closer to mainstream medicine (aka MD). Today, you have identical training (Plus Osteopathic Manipulation). The association lobied the government to recognize DOs to be equal to MDs. In licensing, rights of practice and even competing for residency spots. Till today, you have identical training and degrees... just different initials after you name.
