I was just wondering how much formula memorizing is necessary for this section. I've read before that you really don t need to memorize all of the formulas but just understand how to use them and they will be provided to you. However, I did a practive Kaplan test (the one in the comprehensive review book) and it seemed like there was a bunch of questions where you had to remember the formula or you couldn't answer the question. Also, does anyone have any opinions as to how to prepare most effectively for this section? I ve done quite a bit of reviewing for it but I still feel it will still be the section that will give me the most trouble.

Thanks,

Chris

There are very few formulas that you actually need to know for the MCAT. I think the Kaplan tests probably put too much emphasis on it. Check out the newer AAMC tests (V and VI) to get a better idea of how much you should know. As for preparing, focus more on understanding the concepts and how to use the formulas rather than actually memorizing them.
