Hello,

One of my collegues posted something similar in another area of this form but I thought I would post here as well. Reading through some of the information on this form I noticed that there is alot of mis-information on the RBC plan for Medical students. We want to ensure everyone has access to the information needed to make their financing decision. Every Med school has one or more RBC Specialists assigned to it to work with the students in the program. I am the rep for Dalhousie University.

If you have any questions please let me know (I will also check back here if you want to post questions). Many branches outside the city do not deal with Med students regularly and therefore some mis-information is communicated as our program is always being upgraded.

Here is my contact info if you need it.

Thanks and best of luck!

Hopefully a current student can help me with this - just wondering about the payment of tuition. I have the RBC Visa that collects points for travel with a limit of $5000. But since the two tuition payments are both over this ($5000) limit, is it possible to make these tuition payments in a couple of installments? Or would it be wise to see if I can get my CCard limit increased to cover the tuition payments? Just don't wanna miss out on almost 15,000 points. Thanks!!

Tuition is actually paid in two installments, half in September and half in January. I was in your situation so I pre-paid my credit card so that there was about $7000 on it and then used it to pay tuition. It worked fine and there were no problems. The only thing is you can't use your credit card to pay if you've already cashed in your Canada Student Loan, so I used my LOC to pay my credit card and cashed my student loan after I paid tuition.

I hope I haven't confused you, let me know if you have any questions.

Eh??:\

Why can we not use our credit card to pay our tuition if we have cashed our student loan? Does the money go to the school first and then to us? (I went to Ontario for undergrad so we get the money directly sent to us)

If you cash your loan before you pay tuition, it will go directly on to your tuition but if you do it after you have already paid, the money will go to you. I am not sure if this is a Dal thing or an NB student loan thing so perhaps you will not run into this problem.
