I don't know about others, but I got an email from GWU on Jan 21 saying my file was in a pool that will continue to be considered through this cycle. If I wanted to stay in this "maybe interview" pool they asked that I send them an email.

By the way guys, Wayne State gave me a sheet long ago saying that I had to submit documentation about my citizenship so they could issue me a student visa, and that this documentation was due in April. If I am still waitlisted, do I still need to prove documentation before April?

Personally, I think the only Canadian school that comes remotely close to Vandy is UFT. Vandy is better than most Ontario med shools. Hands down.

It's true, in terms of resources and opportunities, UT is the only school that comes close to par, but UT's class is 2x that of Vandys and that's a huge turn off for me. :S

Man money is not a big deal in the long run. Regardless if you go to an Ontario school or Vandy, if you're going to spend 4 years of the best decade of your life in med school, make sure you have the best experience you can. I spent way more money in tuition at Northwestern than at any Canadian school, but the resources at NU, the chance to live downtown in one of the most exciting cities in North America is hands down an experience that I do not regret one bit. For me, Chicago and NU compared with London (Ontario), Kingston, Edmonton, or any other Canadian city--hands down Chicago and NU win. If Vandy does it for you (I did not apply to Vandy), then I encourage you to do it.

FWIW, if I got into Baylor or UNC, I would withdraw from all Canadian schools.... But I also went to high school and uni in the states so I don't have any strong ties here. Regarding where you'll want to practice, I'm sure you could come back to Ontario if you wanted to so it's not a deal breaker though things might be a bit more complicated (I think there have been plenty of threads on this, I just didn't pay much attention). Either way, it's a nice problem to have.
