Eng lit requirement

I'm planning to apply to U of M next year. I recently emailed Beth to ask about course equivalency, and how to find out if my Eng courses (done at a community college) met their lit requirements and she sent me this response

 

"The English or French literature requirement may be dropped. A decision will be made by Senate by June."

 

Does anyone have any inside information or heard any rumors about the likelihood of this occuring??

 

(I was about to register in a couple 2nd year lit classes this summer for the sole purpose of U of M eligibility, but of course don't want to if i won't end up needing them)

English wasn't a fun subject, if I didn't have to take it I wouldn't of...it certainly didn't help my GPA
