sorry.....who says female drs work any less than male drs?? And who says they take extended breaks? Are you talking about mat leave? If you are, there are male residents who take equal amounts of time of paternity/parental leave (just check the CaRMS website and you'll see that parental leave is included in many residency programs).

 

I'm quite insulted by that comment as I have no intention of working any less than my male counterparts and, in fact, I believe I may have to work more to be taken as seriously as my male colleagues.

Female physicians do work less than males physicians. There's been numerous studies on this.

Maybe generally speaking.

 

I am one female doctor-to-be who wont end up working any less than a male doctor. But that's just me.

This thread seems to have run its course, although it seems to be branching into new and interesting topics. It would be ideal to try to refrain from being a bit hostile, as evidenced above, and the topic on women and medical practice patterns could be a good start for a new thread.
