Pocket Diagnostic Set

Okay... I REALLY want to get a pocket diagnostic set because they're a lot smaller and I'm not going into FP. But I had a lot of trouble seeing the fundus of my friends' eyes that I tried on at the equipment night, whereas with the 'normal' set I had no trouble (I've had practice using those in the past).

How much harder is it to learn how to use the pocket opthalmascope? Any advice - recommend or not?

Thanks!!

Hey,

I have no idea, since I didn't buy one. Conventional wisdom here among the students at UWO is that during your training all the diagnostic tools you'll need will be floating around on the wards somewhere anyway, and a diagnostic kit is an expensive space-filler in your coat (and is liable to sprout legs and run away if you ever take it out of your coat pocket to use it).

Just curious if they're mandatory at UBC.

Cheers,

pb
