nuki9
I would like to know if all verifiers should be contacted before they are used for the application. Also, can a verifier be a family member? The reason is that I have been employed by a family member so I don't know who else I would use. Thanks. Well, strictly speaking you don't have to contact all your verifiers before putting them down. It would be common courtesy though, although I guess it depends on the verifier. It might not be so great for your application when the med school calls the verifier and he/she says, "Hey, I didn't know that so-and-so is applying for med school! He didn't seem like the physician-type to me." ouch. As for a verifier being a family member - well, I don't see why not, but I would imagine that it would carry less weight. Try to use non-family members unless strictly necessary. In the case of a family business, I guess there's not that much you can do unless there's a non-family member in the business that can be a verifier for you. Good luck!
