Bachelor's degree....?

Recommended Posts

hey ppl

I'm applying to Queen's next year with my most recent 2 years

of grades (my 2nd and 3rd year grades).

I was REALLY REALLY lucky to achieve 3.81 on my 2nd year and

3.92 on my 3rd. Right now, I'm taking a year off to work.

To be honest, I'm kinda bit scared to go on with my 4th year

because I might screw my grades up (4th year specialist program in

Physiology @ the UofT is a killer!!). So I think I'm going to stick

with my 2nd and 3rd year grades cuz Queen's has been my

dream school for many years and I know that Queen's looks

at the most RECENT 2 years of grades (NOT the BEST 2 years).

So if I choose to apply with my 2nd and 3rd year grades, then

I'ma have to give up my Honours BASc. I need some advice here -

what would you guys do if u were in my shoes? Would you guys

just give up getting Honours BASc or just go on with my most recent

2 years of grades?

PS: I would choose NOT to defer my acceptance for a year cuz I'm

more than thrilled to study medicine as soon as I can :) (plus, I just

gotta get out of this university ASAP lol)

From what I have heard, some schools tend to favour 4th year students, but since Queen's is your first choice and I've heard they don't really careI don't think it would really matter for you. So, apply to Queen's and see what happens. If it doesn't go so well, then you may want to consider doing your fourth year. This way, it gives you the chance to have a better chance at a wider range of schools. However, since Queen's is your dream school, then do what you can to get in.

However, I have one question, why is Queen's your ultimate school? Is there something about Queen's, Kingston, their curriculum, or something you've heard that attracts you so much to that school?

I'm pretty sure for Queens it's your 2 best years or your cumulative GPA. For this year, best to years was 3.78(pretty sure) and cumulative is 3.68. You only have to meet one of these cutoffs and meet the MCAT requirements to receive an interview. Basically, as long as you don't screw up royally in your fourth and you do mediocarlly on the MCAT you should have a good chance.

Good luck with work.:)

Kuantum -

Actually Queen's was the very first school I have ever visited

(my parents really loved to tour me around the most prestigious

universities in Canada :) ) Queen's had a beautiful campus and

I really loved its university atmosphere. Students were all walking

around busy and I REALLY wanted to be part of them. As a

young, 17 year old boy, I was just FASCINATED with this school.

I've also visited UWO, UBC, Alberta, Calgary, McGill, and

McMaster, but none of them couldn't even be compared to

Queen's (at least to me :) )

Ever since then, Queen's has become my favourite school

(and my dream school :) ) Yea, I couldn't go to Queen's

for my undergrad (I'm at the UofT right now) cuz I've submitted

PIF thing couple of days after the deadline (i couldn't because my

grandfather passed away so we had to fly back to Korea).

So yea, bloody hell, I've ended up here @ the UofT :(

If possible, I would REALLY love to pursue my medical education

at my dream school - Queen's.

I know what you mean...I need to get out of the city I currently live in. I have been here for 15 years since I immigrated. I actually wanted to go to Queen's undergrad., but decided to stay at home. Now for med. school, I have a list of about 6-8 schools that I will drop my resident school for if I am accepted. Its just time for a change.
