tyro
I'm a non-Ottawa Ontario resident. The cutoff of 3.83 seems a bit high, and I was just wondering if any non-Ottawa resident has received an interview with just a 3.70? It seems almost pointless for me to apply. Any inspiring stories out there?
0T6
And you're applying to the english stream? Then no.. cause the cut-offs are HARD cutoffs, sorry
tyro
Yes, the english stream. What if I start a master's program? Would I have a decent chance then?

bioboy2007
heythanks...any idea about how the U of T cut offs are like... I don't believe there are any cutoffs for interview at UofT. The only cutoff is the 3.60 (Toronto GPA) for applying to the school.
Siamak
yeah a lot better chancekeep in mind you will need an A on every single graduate level course. Does this mean that if a grad student has an A in one course and an A- in another course then they will not be considered in the grad pool? Satsuma
According to U of O's posted admission eligibility criteria, a student applying to the graduate stream must (among other things): Have an undergrad wGPA of at least 3.5 Have maintained an average grade of A (85%) or more (final mark) in their graduate courses They also state they will not consider one-year Master's in this stream...fyi, since 1 year master's seem to often come up in these conversations as options. It doesn`t appear to be an option at Ottawa. http://www.medecine.uottawa.ca/admission/eng/AdmissionPolicy.html

The grad transcript from my school does not even have a raw mark on it, it just says A or A+ or A-.
shadowguitar
Ottawa is damn competitive. From mdapplicants.com, I've seen two people who have been accepted to Harvard and Johns Hopkins but were rejected pre-interview from U of Ottawa Med One reason is because they do not require the MCAT, therefore EVERYONE applies. Also, Ottawa seems to be very specific as to who they accept.
lll
HEy...correct me if i am wrong....does ottawa take 4.0 courses into account while calculating WGPA even if have 5.0 courses?...which other univ. does this..? ________ volcano vaporizer

You wonder why an applicant deemed acceptable for admissions at a top tier institution like Harvard or Johns Hopkins is rejected pre-interview from U of Ottawa.
