Just wondering if anyone else is in the situation of having there application placed "on hold" to be "reviewed a second time once the entire application pool has been reviewed". Has anyone been through this or know approximately the chances of going from this to getting an interview or when they usually get through the entire pool for that matter? The school is SUNY and the letter was dated Jan 16th. Thanks!!

I presume you are talking about SUNY upstate, because thats the only SUNY school that canadians are accepted at.

If you are on their pre-interview hold, then it's not a good thing. Sorry. At least according to SDN, the chances of getting pulled from the list is not likely, especially considering they are scheduling interviews for April now (the last month of interviews). But that said, I would keep them updated about any new things that is happening with your life (eg, marks, volunteer oppurtunies, new publications, etc). THis way when the time does come to see who gets an interview, your name will still be at the top.

good luck...

Sonyvaio makes an excellent point - keep sending them stuff! This not only shows that you're continuing to put effort into your academics and ECs but that you're INTERESTED in the school! If they decide to take someone off the hold list for an interview, they are more likely to pick someone that has shown continuing interest. Continually keeping them updated plays a role in the US (not so much in Canada) and can also help with getting accepted post-interview.
