I interrupted my studies for a semester when my daughter was born and then finished my B.Sc part time (two semesters). Will they consider my application if I explain? I have a competitive GPA. Yes, they will take that into account (they took my full-time job into account, for example). Just attach an explanatory letter and maybe a copy of her birth certificate. (You will have to explain your plans on how to combine mothering a small baby and succeeding in med school though.) Best of luck! We need more nontraditional students at McGill.
