dr_2020
Dear All Is there more or less math content in medical school? I am just beginning my journey towards medicine. Math is my least favourite subject! Cheers!
miss_sunshine
there is math, especially during the epidemiology portion of the curriculum. There are also equations depending on the system you are studying that need to be learnt but most of the calculations are very simple (addn, subtracation, division...). I hate math with a passion and I don't find it that difficult, except for some of the bayesian analysis wit the genetics/epid. section.
JewelLeigh
The math is minimal and simple. You can make it through epidemiology in first year even if you stink at math, and beyond that, there are palm programs with medical calculators built in to cover the only other math you would need. Talon01
There is defintely math, but that is such a small component.
dr_2020
I am so thrilled to hear this .... I can handle the general math, however anything above and beyond and I'm sure I will not like it cheers !
Madz25
i had my simulated patient exercise for pharmacology today. we had to calculate how much drug to give...ie. concentration is 500ug/mL, u need to administer 5mg, how much do you give (answer: 10mL). all this without a calculator! lol there is math for the epidemiology part...but it's multiplication/division...really simple as jewelleigh said. vip_138
What! no complex math. i was so looking forward to doing some integrating and some vector analysis. If this is what medicine is like i wan't no part of it!
RowaH
What! no complex math. i was so looking forward to doing some integrating and some vector analysis. If this is what medicine is like i wan't no part of it! This is why it is so hard to get into medical school. . . we compete with amazingly intelligent individuals such as vip_138. miss_sunshine
that is why i'm happy that i'm at a pass/fail school. all of my classmates are the brighest/most intelligent students (and nicest!) selected by the adcoms. i would hate to have to be competing with them for being at the top of the class. dr_2020
I just completed my math test and and passed it. I did better than I thought. Next topic is calculus (my first time) .... it looks mind boggling.
