Jochi1543
I think you're reasonably competitive everywhere. The 9s and the P may negatively affect you at Queens and UWO, because the recent cut-offs have been 10s and Qs. However, they do vary from year to year, so given that your GPA does meet the cut-off and that your score is only off by 1 point, I think you should still apply to those 2 schools. The only school you shouldn't bother with for sure is Ottawa, and NOSM is also ridiculously hard to get into if you are not from the region, so if $ is tight, I wouldn't apply there, either. uofthopeful07
while nothing is impossible, but i dont see those queens/western cutoffs going down. def apply to uoft/mac within ontario and hopefully the province you're from has a good school or two! also check out the weightingformulas/mcat cutoffs you meet at other out of province schools (e.g., dal, ubc (%) etc.)
uofthopeful07
have you thought about rewriting the mcat? would it help you in your home province as well? its tough to put all your eggs in a couple of baskets (mac/uoft) --> your mac gpa is weaker than your others. Dante
yep... also if it doesn't work out this year, if you keep up the good work, ottawa will ignore your 1st year if you apply after 4 years
Tigger123
Thanks for all the great advice everyone! My main choice is actually UBC (BC resident) but I just thought I would try ontario schools just for kicks to get a broader experience. If all fails this year I plan on re-writing my MCAT next summer but for this application cycle my scores are fine for UBC (no flags). :)
