Olu
Hi everyone, Just wondering if the personal statement is strictly 1000 words, or are they lenient if it is over by 100? So is it 1000 words give or take, or will they be sticklers? Thanks in advance!!
toffeetree
i would definitely respect the word limit...1000 is already very generous (and very long for us to type!)
Olu
thanks toffeetree, i suppose you can't go wrong sticking exactly to the limit.
bustylegs
Hi: When I applied a couple of years back, OMSAS website did not put strict character limits on the U of T essay; unlike Mac questions, for example. I beleive I was about 40 words over and did not adversely affect my application. In general, howerver, I would adhere to the guideline as stringently as possible. Hope this helps. armstk
I know quite a few people who went 100 words over and are entering the UT med class this year or last year. Just make sure that if you are going 100 over, there are no wasted words, or sentences you could cut out. You want to be concise and respectful of the limit they imposed. ccoh
the OMSAS online application will limit your character length to 8000, including spaces. Some word processing programs count words differently, so check the character length and then copy from WORD and paste it into OMSAS and see how long it ends up being. It'll cut you off at 8000 characters.
