RedPotato
Hello everyone, I am wondering, for the CaRMS application, can you list experiences in the "Work Experience" section in which you were not paid? Let's say, you set up some online modules for a clinican, but you didn't receive any monetary payment, can you still list that as work experience? Thanks! Kirsteen
Hi there, To me, the above type of work sounds reasonable to include in the "Work Experience" section. Kirsteen
Roxy
Kirsteen, How did you handle your previous non-medicine work experience (I know you have an MBA, and so do I). I am not sure how relevant my derivatives market experience is, but I don't want to leave a huge void on my application..... What did you do with this type of background? LFTs
Hey there, I'd probably list your job. A full time job in derivatives means that you have had a REAL full-time job, which would be valuable experience to residency programs. It wouldn't hurt, and would explain any gaps in your education. Kels
Hey RP, If it was me, I would probably place it under volunteer experience because it was non-monetary. Just my thoughts. Kels
Kels
Just to add... the CaRMS AWS manual clarifies that "volunteer positions are those for which no university credit or monetary payment is issued." Hope that helps!
juicyprunes
Hi Is it ok to list part-time jobs held during medical school even if they're not medically related? Or would reviewers see that as irrelevant information?
