still confused about western 's admission process

Recommended Posts

still a bit confused about western's admission process. once u get an interview, do they just disregard GPA and mcat like what queen does and focus on ur rec letters, auto sketch, etc.? or does GPA still play a factor in the final decision

In the past, the final decision at Western has been based on 50% interview, 25% GPA and 25% MCAT. Past posters from UWO have stated that only the VR and WS marks are counted in the final MCAT score. Also, obtaining the minimum cut-offs in each of the above does not result in the 0/25, but rather a mark closer to 20. As such, it is the interview that has the most bearing on whether or not you gain admission at Western.

i have heard that 50/25/25 breakdown before, but keep in mind that western doesn't formally disclose that formula, so it is likely that it is not 100% accurate. they told us at the white coat ceremony that they specifically selected for a diverse class (in the broadest sense of that word), and there does seem to be some advantage to being from the SWOMEN area. forget about the mechanics of getting in. you've done everything you can to get an interview, and that is by FAR the most important determinant for admission, so kick it's ass and i'll see you at o-week next year.
