NSERC competitiveness?

I was wondering what cumm avg is considered competitive for NSERC?

 

Oh and how do you approach a prof for NSERC? Do i just email them saying that I'm applying for NSERC or should I just ask them if I can work in their lab and see if they offer to apply for NSERC for me??

Your average seems fine. Competitiveness depend on the institution to which you apply. Less applications = lower GPA requirement. Obviously UofT would be flooded by requests. Try for less popular universities.

 

E-mail as many profs as possible until one accepts you. Show some interest in their research in your e-mail and tell them about your average because the only way they'd hire a 2nd year (i.e. no lab experience) is through NSERC-funding, and not their own money.
