reindeer
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone with experience could shed light on printers? I just bought a black/white laser printer. I read on a previous post that a laser printer is highly recommended due to the high volume of notes we'll have. I was wondering if anybody could shed more light on the following: 1. Is black/white okay? I'm planning on using the laser for the majority of notes, and selected pages in colour if it's really needed with another bubblejet I have. 2. What format are the notes in (ppt? doc? pdf?)? I ask this because I know only some programs support manual duplex printing (e.g. odd pages first, then you flip them over and print even, simulating automatic duplex printing). Do you know which programs do and don't? 3. Any other recommendation when it comes to this topic? Thanks for your help!!
HBP
It's not the ppt, doc, and pdf programs that do the duplex printing. Your printer will have that ability no matter what.
kaymcee
Stay away from colour laser, and go with the black-and-white one. Cheap models—colour or black-and-white, it doesn't matter—won't be great at printing images. So why spend $250 on a cheap colour when you can spend just one third of that on a black-and-white? Also, the toner is so expensive. If you really need colour images, print the odd ones at Staples or wherever.
dh79
Black and white laser was fine for me. You'll be printing a lot, so keep it as cheap as possible. The printer options is the easiest way to print double sided and multiple slides on each page.
