futuredoc
I sincerely hope that the OP is just kidding around. My mother is a doctor and I still think this idea is ridiculous. The idea of receiving a seat because of who you are is unethical and will probably let some weak students in.
mango
Let's not talk about buying seats, that's bit extreme. But let's say super honcho/department head/professor emeritus/dean has a son/daughter in the admission process. It's quite reasonable to assume that said son/daughter may already be known within some of the faculty (Christmas parties, trips with daddy's friends, bring our children to work day etc). Even if there are no personal ties, the name alone may even been recognizable. On certain levels, you can't say that there is no advantage to be that kid whatsoever. But I don't think any Canadian school would blatantly allot seats.
boodog
kids of doctors are already at an advantage because their parent have been through med school, probably seen the admission process, maybe even been on the ad comm, or an interviewer, etc etc.
astudentis
that totally sucks... who is to say that kids of doctors are predispose to being good doctors... maybe kids are being forced to go into just because "mommy and daddy" have done it... that just ticks me of... i say NO to the legacy seats (boooo)!
