ssb6
Hi all, I was wondering if dental students (first years) require large backpacks? Do you have to carry around your text books? All throughout high school and university I never used a backpack, but instead I used a large business-style one shoulder bag. I put important papers/notes in my bag and left my text books at home (which is where I study the most) and only brought along my text books if I was going to study at school. Will this style of bag be OK for dental school also? Thank you for the advice. I need to know what to buy!
xtapolapocetl
All first-year dental students across Canada get a free backpack during their orientation. http://www.premed101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29633&highlight=free+advil
daryn
Many people don't use those backpacks. We were also given Colgate messenger style bags/laptop bags. It really doesn't matter. Some people use backpacks and some girls use purses (decent sized).

OutEast
It also depends what school you go to. At Dal you really only need your laptop for most things. You will need a lab manual for some courses but not too many so you can have a small laptop bag and you're good to go. This is because Dal has the laptop program, I can't say what it's like at other schools.
