BSnN for Undergrad Degree. BSc vs. BScN

Recommended Posts

I am a high school student and I want to become a doctor(No I WILL become a doctor!:) ) I understand that Medical school is very competitive. So if I had a BScN, I would already have a good job, in HEALTH CARE HELPING PEOPLE!

If I was not to get into Medicine(But I will) I would want to be a nurse.

What I want to know is:

1-What way to you personally think is better to get into medicine? Science or Nursing?

2-What are the pros and cons of both of them?

3a)-Does a BScN give you the prerequisites for Medical School?-3b) If not, how and how long would it take you to get them.-3c)Would these be obtained during or after the BScN?

4-Does a BScN prepare you for the MCAT?

5-Do the prerequisites for Medical School prepare you for the MCAT?

6-Is it easier to get a higher GPA in a BScN?

7-Is it possible to do the prerequisites as your electives in nursing?

-Please add any other information that may be useful. Details are good! Thanks!:)

My gf is a nurse so I am slightly qualified to answer.

1. Doesn't really matter.

2. Nursing gives you a well-paying career if medicine doesn't work out right away. Nursing school may be more demanding of your time however, but this varies depending on practicums etc.

3a. No.

3b. You would have to take them as your electives or as extra credits.

4. No.

5. Yes, if you take physics, biology, chemistry, and organic chemistry. Genetics is pretty useful as well.

6. No.

7. Depends on the program and how many electives you are allowed.
