Destiny Gundam
If you can do your IM residency (PGY1-3) anywhere in Canada, not factoring in the CITY nor SALARY, where would you do it, and why? Thinking about leaving Vancouver...

CW VW
As long as you avoid UBC and McGill, you should be fine.
Fred
I knew about the reputation of UBC, but what's wrong about McGill?
crush
Mac or U of A. I hear great things about the enthusiastic teaching and camaraderie of residents in both programs. maybe Toronto if you want to be in academia/research. Heard Winnipeg has a strong program too. cheech10
Do it at the same place you hope to do a fellowship. The face time with subspecialty staff is probably the most important factor in helping you get a competitive spot. If this is not important to you, choose based on the above criteria. lovesg?
sorry to hijack, but has anyone heard things about MUN's IM programme?
physiology
The best internal medicine is the one that best fits your personal and professional needs. I've heard that MUN has an excellent internal medicine program. They train their residents well because a lot of responsibility is placed on them. Limited subspecialty fellowships though. med user
Hi everyone, After a long 2 weeks of Internal medicine interviews a lot of the programs are starting to blur together. Can anyone remember what call requirements are for Queens? I think they said 1:4 as a first year, but this seems a lot more ambitious than other schools. Is call actually 1:4, or is it more like 1:5 or 6 as a first year? Also, what do other people think about the mandatory anaesthesia elective at Queens? Thank you! flying kumquat
I've done CTU and subspecialty medicine rotations as an R1 at KGH. Even though I'm family medicine, they seem to schedule all juniors the same. Definitely 1:4 for CTU call. Subspecialty call (covering cardiology/neuro/heme-onc/GI wards only, not consults) was maybe 5-6 shifts per 4 week block. If you want to have a look at the call schedules, you can find them here.
