The Dec 1st deadline is just so that the letters can arrive later, but the referees have to have been previously selected. I may be completely wrong though... That's not correct -- your transcripts are not released until you submit (and therefore will arrive some amount of time after you submit) and your MCAT scores are not released until Oct 1.
