Getting the surfaces flat

Hi people of the forum!

I've been having trouble with getting the surface of the soap flattened.

Would you guys mind sharing some tips with me??

aww i'm sorry, didn't mean it i'm no expert or i'd share my secrets. my DAT was last yr and i didn't do that well on this section. i'm surprised no one else's given tips tho...c'mon there must be some michelangelo's out there!

I don't really know what your specific problem is, but try using long, slow, consistent strokes that take off very minimal soap. Angle the blade just a couple degrees from the plane of the soap so it doesn't really dig into the soap, but catches only on the slightly raised bumps. This should leave your planes smooth.

take your time and do long smooth strokes, con is you might not have time if it has a lot of difficulty to the carving design
