Dongzhuo
Hey guys, Quick question- if I wanna go about writing case reports as a second year student, how do I go about doing this? Should I find an attending to shadow first, and then straight up tell them I wanna write up a case report for them? Would they even let you do that after one time? How does this work? Thanks! A-Stark
I don't know how it works at other schools, but here we'd typically write up a case report for an elective (formalized shadowing) project. I did that in the fall for a patient I saw in the OR and for follow-up in clinic. She had a pretty incredible story and course, so there was lots to write about. Lactic Folly
Well, you can ask about research opportunities in the department. If they don't have any case reports to write up, perhaps they can refer you to someone else.
