US med schools: Best 2 years GPA / alternate GPA calculation

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody!

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of american medschools who calculate GPA only using the applicant's best two years, or deletes the lowest year GPA after a certain number of years of undergrad.

In other words... is there any medschool down there that doesn't calculate GPA using all 4 years?

Also, how do they view grad school applicants down there?

Thanks!:)

dont know about grad school.

ALL american med schools look at ALL post-secondary grades (including summer courses). they ALL use the AMCAS GPA (cGPA and science GPA), which includes every course taken after high school. no fancy formulas.

Correction: If you took a university course during high school (as some ppl do in the states), then it will count towards your GPA.
