GPA calculation

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just a quick question - how do I calculate my GPA for Mac admission?

Stats:

First 2 years @ a college, in a DEGREE (applied degree, not diploma) program

Year 1 - 3.82

Year 2 - 3.81 (only 1 semester done in this year)

Last 2 years @ a university (transfered)

Year 3 - 79% average

Year 4 - 82% average (3 semesters, 1 summer)

Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure they look at all your post-secondary grades.

I'm not sure if McMaster would take your college courses. If this is true, you wouldn't be able to apply unless you're currently enrolled in a University program, full time.

If they do happen to take those credits, then they are all weighted equally. Your cgpa would be on the mid to low side, but there is still hope if you have a good VR and supplementary (casper/abs) score.

Straight from their admissions website:

Please note: There is no requirement that applicants carry a full course load. Only degree courses taken at an accredited university will be considered. To satisfy the minimum requirements, academic credentials from a Canadian University must be from an institution that is a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) or the Council of Ontario Universities (COU).

It seems McMaster is really stressing that this postsecondary institution be a "university", and only courses taken at these universities will be considered. In that case, any college credits would not be counted towards your application. I guess what needs clarification is how strict McMaster is on the definition of university, but I'd place my bet on college courses not being accepted.
