NSERC cutoffs

Do you guys know the approximate cGPA cutoffs for NSERC in your institution?

 

I'm particularly interested in Ryerson.

Usually the cut-off for NSERC is A- (depending on school). At York, the cut off was an A. But I'd say A- would be the most probable cut off.

at McGill, cut off was around 3.93~3.94 for the Faculty of Medicine.

Might be different for Faculty of Science though

last year at Ottawa U, the cutoff for NSERC biochem department was 9.6/10 apparently

Are you sure there is a cuttoff? I thought you just have to have an B+ and then the prof decides who he wants to take

How NSERC USRA works is you first visit the profs and if the prof decides to support you for your application to NSERC USRA (he needs to have NSERC funding I think or from CIHR), you send a submission to the department you are applying to (the prof's department).

 

Then the department chooses who should receive the current year's quota of NSERC USRA awards (usually 3~4 per department in big schools).

 

So, the decision is made hierarchically, I believe.
