First come first serve sign up for interviews

Hi,

I read on U of C's webpage that when they send out interview invites, the interviewees have to sign up for a time slot using UCAN and that these are available on a first come first serve basis. So are they referring to the fact that if you don't act quick you might get an interview time you don't like or are they referring to that some people will be left without an interview spot.

 

I don't that is the case as that just seems cruel to do but I thought I'd check.

They wouldn't invite people and then not have interview spots for them!

 

It's so that you can try to get a time that works for your schedule.

Don't worry, there's an interview spot for everyone who gets an invite.

 

Last year there were 7am times and noonish times, so all the noonish ones filled up in like 5 minutes.

Did they give a more concrete release date closer to February of just randomly release it to everyone (by email I'm guessing)? And did they release all regrets and offers all at one for both IP and OOP or did they give OOP a little more time to arrange travel plans?

They sent notifications of successful interview but they gave several day leeway before you could schedule an interview.

Yeah, if you're invited to interview you'll get an e-mail telling you when the sign-up system opens. I think all the e-mails go out around the same time. Last year they went out in early Feb.
