kylamonkey
Does anyone know how they actually assign the score out of 15%, or the VR? Is a 3.00GPA = 0, and 3.5GPA = 7.5%, and 4.0 gets you the full 15%? How about VR? 6 = 0%, or 6 = 6%? Does anyone have any insight if Mac will be changing the weightings for 2012 admissions? thatonekid
I think there's been speculation on how the VR and GPA percents break down (on pm101), but nothing has ever been confirmed by someone associated with admissions (as far as I know). Femto
They apply z-scores to everyone's GPA and VR. To get the z-score they subtract the applicant pool average from your score, and then divide that by the standard deviation of the applicant pool. Once your GPA, VR and CASPer scores are standardized (by z-scores), then they can ensure that each is contributing in the exact percentage that they want. Whether the lowest z-score gets 0% and the highest gets 15%, while the rest fill in the bell-curve, I am not entirely sure, and is left up to speculation. Anyone else care to fill in the gaps?
