A-Stark
While I won't disagree with the existence of a sense of entitlement (it's certainly there), I fail to see what's wrong with wanting to have time off. I don't think that a commitment to patient care is inconsistent with adequate time for "life". The problem comes when services are understaffed and the attitude exists that post-call days are optional and things like sleep and eating are frills to be enjoyed during rare downtime. I'm perhaps overstating matters, but I think we've done well to reduce the extent to which medicine can become overwhelmingly all-consuming of our decidedly finite existences.
