anxious_101
So I have the option of getting my hep B vaccine for FREE versus getting both the hep A + hep B vaccine (Twinrix) for $180. Is it worth it to pay for the added hep A protection? I have no intention of traveling to countries where hep A is prevalent, but in general, are healthcare works at increased risk and would benefit from the vaccine? Thanks! hking03
Ask your doctor, public health nurse or student health nurse... Or google it. Personally, when I went for all my immunizations they never once suggested I get a hep a vaccination. But, I'm not giving advice as to what you should do. Good luck. psychoswim
Hep A isn't needed unless you plan to travel. Get only Hep B, and if you need Hep A later you can get the Havrix instead which is only 2 doses.
Mithril
You might be working with or in close proximity to patients who have recently travelled to or immigrated from an area where there's a hep A epidemic. Who knows. It might prove useful then. I got mine about 9 years ago when I went to Bangladesh.
