Leon
How much research do you guys get to do as med students? Do you have time for it during the week or can you only do it during the summer? It would also help if you mention what school you go to. Thanks
Lactic Folly
Not a current med student, but it's all about priorities.. spend your free time socializing? exercising? studying? volunteering? doing student politics? driving back and forth to the neighbouring city? Depends on your project as well. Is it something that lends itself easily to being worked on an hour at a time, here and there?
inspiring-curmudgeon
I spend about 4 hours/week on research. It fits quite well into my schedule and the project is only 6 months long, so after that, I can decide if I want to take on another project. anxious_101
Well one month into med school and I feel as though I have a ton of free time on my hands. I feel my undergrad was more time consuming with studying and assignments than med school so far. I am definitely looking to start some research on the side. I should qualify that I am at U of T meds and perhaps first year meds at other schools is more time consuming leaving little time for research/other pursuits. Leon
Interesting, thanks for the input everyone. I wanted to be sure that the opportunity exists and that it's practically possible to free up your schedule enough to do it.
thatonekid
The opportunity for research definitely exists. In fact, I feel like in med school they're practically throwing opportunities for a wide variety of ECs at you.
