moo
FYI Examining why jobs are scarce for some specialists Royal College will lead new “employment” study to investigate the issue A new research study by the Royal College will try to determine why more and more Canadian specialists are finding it difficult to secure employment in their field. First reported in the discipline of Cardiac Surgery, there is growing evidence to suggest that this trend is spreading to other specialties; nevertheless, little has yet been said or researched on this issue. Supplying answers The Royal College launched its new multi-phase study in an effort to understand if oversupply exists because there are more specialists in certain fields than are actually needed to address population needs, or whether oversupply is the by-product of another factor or series of factors (e.g., policy-driven, social-constructs or economics). Stay tuned to Dialogue for updates on this study as they become available. http://rcpsc.medical.org/publications/dialogue/vol11-10/2/oversupply_e.php I've been interested in this in a long time, mostly because jobs are scarce in my specialty as well, only I at least have family medicine to back up while I look for a job.
